EA 1st Vice President Truskolaski calls for more focussed EU action on affordable housing

The Conference of Presidents (CoP) met Ireland’s Minister of State for Planning and Local Government, John Cummins TD, at the Custom House in Dublin. The meeting took place in the framework of the CoR Conference of Presidents’ visit to Ireland during the country’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, providing an opportunity to exchange views on the role of local and regional authorities in addressing key European challenges.

During the discussion, EA Group 1st Vice-President Tadeusz Truskolaski, Mayor of Białystok, highlighted the need for stronger EU action to tackle the growing challenge of affordable housing. He pointed to the work being carried out in Białystok to increase access to affordable homes, particularly for young people, and stressed the importance of supporting cities and regions in developing practical housing solutions adapted to local needs.
