Truskolaski Calls for Simpler, More Flexible Cohesion Policy
At the Committee of the Regions plenary, Mr. Tadeusz Truskolaski, First Vice President of the European Alliance Group, highlighted the importance of the National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRPPs) for ensuring balanced development across the European Union.
Speaking from the perspective of Białystok and the Podlasie region, he stressed that EU funds translate into concrete investments in infrastructure, education, digitalisation, and economic resilience. However, he warned that overly complex procedures risk slowing down their impact.
Truskolaski called for greater flexibility and simplification, arguing that the performance framework should support efficient spending rather than create administrative burdens. He also underlined the need to better reflect the specific challenges of border regions, which play a key role in strengthening the Union’s resilience.
He further emphasised the importance of investing in innovation, the green transition, and small and medium-sized enterprises to secure long-term regional growth and opportunities for young people.
Concluding, he stated that any NRPP should demonstrate the EU’s ability to act effectively and fairly, with regions treated as partners in shaping cohesion policy—not just its beneficiaries.
